Nico and Karen held their wedding reception at The Churchill Hotel in London but the ceremony itself took place across from the hotel in Portman Square. The couple both prepared in rooms at the Churchill although Karen started her day at the Daniel Galvin hair salon with her Mother Willemijn and her bridesmaids, Lindsay, Julia and Imke. Karen’s dress was made for her by Phillipa Lepley Couture.

The weather was so unpredictable that the decision to hold the ceremony outdoors was only taken 30 minutes before it was due to get underway. However as the bride entered the square with her father and bridesmaids the clouds cleared and the sun shone.

The wedding breakfast included scallops and pan fried sea bass and was followed by several hours of dancing.

The whole event was organised (including the weather, I suspect) by wedding planners Linda Cooper and Co.

I was recently commisioned to take the portrait of wedding planner Erika Unbehaun of FlutterFly Events. The sitting took place at Erika’s apartment in Canary Wharf and I was really pleased with the results so I’m sharing a few here on the blog.

I’m going to be working with FlutterFly in August on a fabulous wedding in central London and will publish the first photographs here.

Earlier this week I went along to another wedding industry event, this one held by Chelsea Bidwill the owner of Beyond Weddings. Beyond Weddings offer a gift list service which helps couples build their home and it’s interior rather than their collection of toasters and napkins!
At the party, held in the
Crystal Room of the Dorchester, were the good and the great of the London wedding scene (oh yes, we have a ‘scene’, you know!). The people I chatted with included Victoria and Simon from
Euphoric Flowers,
Julia Boggio, Benita and Jade from
Nonsuch Mansion (surely the best new venue in years!), wedding planner
Mark Niemierko, florist
Orlando Hamilton, and celebrity make-up artist
Lina Cameron.
Below are some of the snaps I grabbed of the event, thanks again to Chelsea for hosting the evening.

On Wednesday night I was lucky enough to be invited to a St Valentine’s party held by leading
Wedding Planner Mark Niemierko.
The evening was staged at the
Clerkenwell shop of McQueens, the brilliantly talented florists. There were lots of interesting people there from the wedding world and I was lucky enough to chat with the gorgeous Philippa Onslow from
Confetti.co.uk and the very talented Make-Up artist,
Lina Cameron.
The Champagne flowed all night and there were wonderful canapés supplied by
Mustard Catering and delicious cup cakes by
Maisie Fantaisie.
A fabulous event to get us all in the mood for the
Designer Wedding Show this weekend!

Now here’s an invaluable online tool for any bride who’s struggling with her choice of wedding dress. The Short Wedding Dresses Planner will let you try out a selection of different dresses then see how they look with different accessories including shoes, veil and jewellery. You can even take a look at your finished wedding day look with different hairstyles! How good is that?
You start off with the empty template (below) and then drag and drop the various elements into place until you have designed your ideal wedding day outfit.
The next image shows one I prepared earlier. As you will see, my outfit encapsulates the very essence of a post-modern, academic woman whilst retaining an air of sexuality and mystery. A bridal style that is one part
Germaine Greer, two parts
Dita Von Teese.
If you visit the main Wedding Games Online website you will find lots of other useful tools to help with your wedding planning including the highly addictive Wedding Bouquets.

If you’re a wedding planner and you have an iPhone then this App is a ‘must have’.
Wedding Dash is a great way to hone your planning skills whilst travelling in a taxi to the next wedding venue or bridal dress fitting. Since I downloaded it from iTunes I haven’t stopped playing with it and I’m not even a wedding planner!
By helping our put upon planner, Quinn, to organise her friends wedding and deal with the guests, you collect points which add up to, er, well, a lot of points.
I’m still learning using the ‘lite’ version but I have already got up to a score of 1200 which, according to the App, practically makes me a member of
UKAWP!

I was really delighted recently when London Wedding Planner Lester Gethings of No.10 Wedding Design and Manangement asked me if I would take some portrait shots of him for PR use.
And so it was, that last Friday we spent the morning in a studio near Wandsworth Bridge eating Gü Chocolate Naughties and capturing Lester in various outfits.
I’ll post some of the great images we captured when they are ready but for now, here’s just one of the photographs I took:

On Thursday evening there was a networking night hosted by the
United Kingdom Alliance of Wedding Planners and held at one of London’s more intimate wedding venues,
30 Pavilion Road.

Those nice people at
UKAWP asked me if I would come along and take some photographs for them and I’m really glad I agreed because it was a great chance to catch up with some of the wedding planners I have worked with in the past and others who I hope to in the future.

There were almost 50 of the industry’s ‘great and good’ there so too many to name check everybody but it was great to see, amongst others,
Kathryn Lloyd,
Kelly Chandler,
Bernadette Chapman and
Mark Niemierko. I had chance to chat to few people about
Twitter and
Facebook including: Penelope Merricks of
Tigerlily; Lester Gethings of
No.10 Wedding Design and, somebody who has
featured on this blog before, Peggie-Anne Savage from
Vow Perfections.

A special mention to Paul and Sinead from
30 Pavilion Road for looking after everybody and making sure we all had plenty of Champagne to drink and yummy canapès to eat.

This wedding started with a ceremony in West London and then moved on to a reception in leafy Surrey.
Rachel and Mark were married at St Pauls church in Chiswick at 2.30pm. We were expecting the forecasted rain to be with us that point but, thankfully, it held off until later in the day. The wedding ceremomy was enlivened by the Elysian Choir who sang beautifully throughout but really sent shivers down the spine with a rendition of Handel’s Zadock the Priest whilst the marriage register was being signed.
After the ceremony the Bride and Groom were whisked away in a Rolls Royce Phantom with the guests enjoying a glass of Champagne on there journey aboard a red Routemaster bus.
The wedding reception was held at the 16th century Great Fosters Hotel near Egham. As refreshements were served I managed to get some time to photograph the newley-weds around the grounds. Rachel was wearing a stunning dress designed by Caroline Castigliano and it was complimented by a beautiful bouquet from the very creative team at Euphoric Flowers.
Euphoric also supplied all the floristry inside the Tithe Barn which is where the wedding breakfast was served. The room looked amazing and no little credit should go to Kelly and her team at the Bespoke Wedding Company who coordinated the whole day.

Kate and Guillaume held their wedding ceremony and the wedding reception at the
St Stephens Club in London. Tucked away behind Bird Cage Walk and within a few hundred yards of Buckingham Palace this intimate venue was a perfect backdrop for the Bride and Grooms Anglo French celebrations.
The Bride arrived with her Father at 4pm wearing a beautiful dress made for her by designer Ritva Westenius. After the ceremony the Groom and his new wife went across the road to St James Park for a stroll to the delight of the amazed tourists.
The wedding Breakfast was held in the Club’s dining room amongst some fabulous floral decorations created by Mark Walker and at the end of the meal the couple cut their cake which had been made by Pat-a-Cake Pat-a-Cake.
The whole day was organised by Wedding Planner Siobhan Craven-Robins. Siobhan and I have been trying to work together for a long time so it was nice to finally be available to photograph one of her weddings.
The newlyweds are now off on honeymoon to Greece with their daughter Alice.
