Another gorgeous day in London and another fun wedding. Jessica and Paul first met at Uni and 12 years later here they are getting married!
I started the day with the bride at her parents house in Kent. Once she had finished getting ready, with the help of her five bridesmaids, we all set off in a gorgeous red 1950′s bus and headed up to Westminster for the wedding ceremony.

The wedding ceremony and the wedding reception were held at One Whitehall Place, one of London’s grander wedding venues. On arrival in we encountered a small hitch; the road leading to the venue was closed off because of the presence of one of the biggest cranes you are likely to see. So, we all disembarked around 100 yards down the street and the girls, pulling their overnight bags behind them, made their way to the wedding. As you can see from the photograph a group of workman looked on with interest (but not enough interest to help with the bags!).
Jessica didn’t grumble though, she just picked up her dress and marched on in her siver ‘LK Bennets’.

During the ceremony there were two readings. One of them, a poem called ‘The Invitation’, was particularly touching and you can read it on the web site of the author, Oriah Mountain Dreamer.

On Saturday I photographed the wedding of Natasha and Iain in a very spring like Devon. The reception was held at Natasha’s family home in the quiet hamlet of Furley and the ceremony was at the St John the Baptist church in nearby Membury.

As usual I arrived a little early to check out the locations and say ‘hi’ to everybody. I photographed the wedding of Natasha’s sister, Coquita, last year so I was already familiar with some of the family. As the Bride prepared for her big day the two young bridesmaids played on the swing without a care in the world.

During the ceremony we had a reading from the ‘The Little Prince’ by Antoine de Saint Exupery and sang ‘I Vow to Thee My Country’ before the Bride and Groom came down the aisle to ‘The Liberty Bell’!

Back at the house, instead of the usual canapés, afternoon tea was served including cucumber sandwiches and cream scones.

The wedding breakfast included a starter of crab meat salad and a main course with barbequed lamb. The Bride and Groom work in the film industry and named all of the tables after different film Directors including Stanley Kubrick, Clint Eastwood and Woody Allen. The catering was by the team at Gordon Sutherland and all of the fabulous flowers were created by Natasha’s mother, Cathryn.

On Saturday I was down in Chiddingfold in Surrey for the wedding of Emma and Ravi.
As Emma was getting ready at nearby Lythe Hill Hotel, Ravi and the guests were arriving at Ramster for the wedding ceremony.

During the wedding ceremony there were two readings; one, an extract from Les Misérables and the other, the very funny poem by Louise Cuddon called I’ll Be There. Then, during the signing of the register, the newlyweds’ friend Cate sung the Norah Jones song, Come Away With Me.

After the wedding breakfast, courtesy of caterers Jacaranda, the party started with ‘two’ first dances, both a little unusual, Step on my Old Size Nines by the Stereophonics and then the reggae standard, Guava Jelly; I think it was the Johnny Nash version but somebody please correct me if I’m wrong.

Woburn offers a spectacular back drop and as the sun set we could hear the Stags calling… or whatever it is Stags do?

This was a bit of a special wedding for me to cover as, including Roz, there were three of ‘my Brides’ present. Alongside me in the photograph below are the lovely Penny, the gorgeous Jen and the delectable Rosamund.

Clare and Chris were married at the Holy Trinity Church in Cuckfield , West Sussex on what was probably the start of the, now, traditional Indian Summer. Clare got ready at her parents house nearby with her Bridesmaid, Issy, and had her hair styled by Nelson from the Sejour in Chelsea.

Around 65 guests joined them for the wedding ceremony during which we heard readings from Chris’ Aunt, Brenda Tipper and Clare’s brother Michael, the latter reciting ‘The most Wonderful of All Things In Life’ by Sir Hugh Walpole.

On a showery day I headed down to Wiltshire to photograph the wedding of Nikki and Magnus.
The reception was held in the charming Manor House hotel in the village of Castle Combe and this is where the couple stayed along with family (Magnus’ over from Sweden) and friends before heading off for the wedding ceremony at St Margarets church in nearby Yatton Keynell.

The ceremony was notable because as well as two readings there were also a couple of excellent musical performances.

First of all Nikki’s cousin, Rebecca, played Elgar’s ‘Salut d’Amour’ on the violin accompanied by the Bride’s brother James on keyboard.

Then, James was again called into action, this time, to play for Magnus’ cousin Lars as he sung Ted Gärdestad’s ‘För Kärlekens Skull’.

Wedding in the Lowlands of Kent

Lloyd May 19th, 2008

C38 0604 Wedding in the Lowlands of KentThere was just a hint of the Scottish about this wedding. Both Eilidh and Andrew’s families, the Beatons and the MacLeods, are originally from the Isle of Skye and, although they married in an Anglican church, St Mary the Virgin in Elham, there was definitely an influence from north of the border.

C38 0290 Wedding in the Lowlands of KentThe bridal bouquet included antique roses and, one of the symbols of Scotland, the thistle. All the floral arrangements were created by Helen Gomez.

C38 0344 Wedding in the Lowlands of KentC38 0349 Wedding in the Lowlands of Kent
As the Bride and Groom signed the register, Eilidh’s friend Victoria sang the Robbie Burns’ song, ‘My Love is Like a Red Red Rose’ and, when they left the church the organist played ‘Scotland the Brave’.

The couple were whisked away by pony & trap and the wedding breakfast and reception was held in a marquee at Eilidh’s parent’s house.

After a meal that included smoked duck, salmon and bangers & mash, the Bride & Groom and their guests danced the night away to, what else, a Céilidh.
