Wrest Park is a nineteenth century mansion set in 92 acres of gardens and woodland. It offers a stunning backdrop for a wedding especially on wonderfully English summers day; warm and dry with a little cloud just to take the edge off.

Philippa and Richard’s wedding used three seperate areas of Wrest Park (four if you include the gardens) plus a church in the local village.

The couple were married at a civil cermony held in the Archer’s Pavilion, a small but classical piece of architecture built by a long ornamental pond. Due to the size of the interior the ceremony was only attended by around a dozen guests and a string quartet (plus photographer, natch).

After the ‘legal’ ceremony we all dashed off to St James’ church in nearby Silsoe where another 100 or so guests awaited to witness the blessing of the marriage. Richard is a serving naval officer and the newlyweds were greeted outside the church by a guard of honour made up of six of the groom’s colleagues.

The drinks reception was held on the terrace of the mansion which gave a superb view of the estate. Champagne and canapés were served before we all walked a few hundred yards across the park to the Orangery where the rest of the celebrations were located.

The wedding breakfast included smoked trout mousse and leg of duck and was created and served by the team at Zest. All the fabulous flowers were supplied by Wild Orchid who are based in Leighton Buzzard.

Great series of photos all the way through, and that’s definitely the most interesting line up photo I have ever seen, great angle.
