My last wedding of the year was at Cain Manor in Hampshire where it was a case of déja vous all over again. We photographed a wedding there last year on exactly the same weekend!

This time around it was the turn of Sarah and Ben to tie the knot, with a very festive ceremony and reception.

Sarah’s gorgeous dress was from Hollywood Dreams and her shoes from Pink.

The Bride and Groom are flying to Canada on Boxing Day to visit Sarah’s relatives.

Last night I was lucky enough to share a couple of hours in the company of photographer Nadav Kander. The occassion was another in a series of lectures held at the Royal Geographical Society by the charity PhotoVoice.
Those of you who read my blog regularly will remember that I went to a similar event, featuring John Swannell, earlier in the year and I noticed that Swannell was there again but this time as part of the audience.
This event wasn’t really a lecture but a discussion with Kander chaired by the photography critic Joanna Pitman. In my opinion, Kander is one of our finest living photographers and his images almost demand that the viewer takes time and studies each frame in detail.
The words ‘art’ and ‘artist’ can be a little over used when discussing photography (quite often ‘skill’ or ‘artisan’ might be more appropriate) but Kander is definlitely an artist; he has an ‘eye’ and his own unique way of illustrating a scene; his portrait work is similarly outstanding.
For anybody interested, Kander’s latest project, ‘Yangtze from East to West’, is currently on show at the Flowers East gallery in East London.

As some of you may know from reading my web site or following the link here on my blog, I donate some of the money I earn from photographing weddings to Amnesty International.
Now don’t click away back to Facebook or Twitter, I’m not going to start preaching at you
No, I just want to say thanks to everybody who has booked me to photograph their wedding this year, next year and, of course, all the hundreds of you who have done so in the past. Thanks to you, Amnesty have received thousands of pounds which will go towards fighting human rights abuses across the world.
If you want to know more then you can visit the Amnesty site where you can read a summary of what they do and, if you feel like it, join Amnesty.

Anna and Richard were married at St Andrews church in the village of Shalford.

Anna arrived at the church looking gorgeous in her Ana Cristache dress and as she walked up the aisle trumpeter William Bargman played The Prince of Denmark’s March by Jeremiah Clark.

Amongst the guests for the day was the couple’s dog Monty who was sporting a bowtie and looked very smart.
After the wedding ceremony the newlyweds and their guests made the 15 minute journey to Gosfield Hall for the wedding reception

Richard was Best Man at his sister Karen’s wedding last year and she returned the compliment by being his Best Man for the day.
After a Champagne reception the guests were led through to The Ballroom for the wedding breakfast.

The delicious looking cake was made by Patacake.

Mr and Mrs Harvey are now enjoying their honeymoon in Grenada.

On Saturday I was down in Chiddingfold in Surrey for the wedding of Emma and Ravi.
As Emma was getting ready at nearby Lythe Hill Hotel, Ravi and the guests were arriving at Ramster for the wedding ceremony.

Ramster was decked out in flowers by Gemma Beasley from In the Pink and instead of the traditional wedding caked there was a delicious looking cheesecake from The English Cheesecake Co.

Emma walked up the aisle with her father, John, wearing a gorgeous dress by Caroline Castigliano (that’s Emma, not John…).

During the wedding ceremony there were two readings; one, an extract from Les Misérables and the other, the very funny poem by Louise Cuddon called I’ll Be There. Then, during the signing of the register, the newlyweds’ friend Cate sung the Norah Jones song, Come Away With Me.

After the wedding breakfast, courtesy of caterers Jacaranda, the party started with ‘two’ first dances, both a little unusual, Step on my Old Size Nines by the Stereophonics and then the reggae standard, Guava Jelly; I think it was the Johnny Nash version but somebody please correct me if I’m wrong.

Mr & Mrs Saksena are now enjoying a few days in Edinburgh before the honeymoon proper, Christmas in South Africa.

On a gorgeous autumnal day I attended the wedding of Paul Miller and Jackie Barr at the Westminster Register Office in the Marylebone Road.

Jackie and her friend Donna prepared at The Landmark Hotel and then walked the few hundred yards to the register office.

The wedding ceremony was held in the Yellow Marriage Room with just 14 guests in attendance; the Bride entered the room to the sound of Led Zepplin’s classic song ‘Stairway to Heaven’.

After the ceremony we all walked back across to The Landmark where, after a few informal photographs the wedding party enjoyed afternoon tea and champagne in the Winter Garden atrium.

On Saturday, as the warm weather continued, I photographed the wedding of Stuart and Rosamund (Roz).

They were married at St Romwald’s Church, Strixton near to Roz’s home village of Wollaston. The church was packed for the wedding ceremony and amongst the readings was an excerpt from Captain Corelli’s Mandolin.

After the ceremony everybody headed off to the Sculpture Gallery within the grounds of Woburn Abbey for the reception.

Woburn offers a spectacular back drop and as the sun set we could hear the Stags calling… or whatever it is Stags do?

This was a bit of a special wedding for me to cover as, including Roz, there were three of ‘my Brides’ present. Alongside me in the photograph below are the lovely Penny, the gorgeous Jen and the delectable Rosamund.

The newlyweds are now in Italy enjoying the tranquility of Lake Como.

Finally some great weather, huh?
On Friday I was at Syon Park for the wedding of Tessa Kottler and Jason Capra. Whilst Tessa was getting ready at her parents house with the help of Kate from It’s All about You, Jason and the Guys were tucking into a hearty lunch at The London Apprentice, a short walk from the venue.

The ‘first’ wedding ceremony was held in the Great Hall which is a fabulous room with lots of natural light and high ceiling.

We were then fortunate enough to witness a second wedding ceremony this time a Jewish one led by Rabbi Guy Hall. A Chuppa was held over the couple in the courtyard of the main building as they performed the traditional rituals including the breaking of the glass.

Tessa’s beautiful dress was designed by Sassi Holford and came from Surrey Brides in Weybridge.

The wedding Breakfast was held across the park in the Great Conservatory where the room was dressed with some fabulous flower arrangements from Carter Cherrill. The guests enjoyed food served by caterers William Norris and, later in the evening, wedding cake from Cakes 4 Fun.

The new Mr & Mrs Capra and currently honeymooning in Brazil. If you would like to see some of the guests photographs from the day then take a look at Tessa and Jason’s web site set up especially for their wedding.

Clare and Chris were married at the Holy Trinity Church in Cuckfield , West Sussex on what was probably the start of the, now, traditional Indian Summer. Clare got ready at her parents house nearby with her Bridesmaid, Issy, and had her hair styled by Nelson from the Sejour in Chelsea.

Around 65 guests joined them for the wedding ceremony during which we heard readings from Chris’ Aunt, Brenda Tipper and Clare’s brother Michael, the latter reciting ‘The most Wonderful of All Things In Life’ by Sir Hugh Walpole.

Then everybody walked through the village to Ockendon Manor for the wedding reception. The sun was really warm and the guests spilt out onto the terrace and the lawns to enjoy the weather.

After the wedding breakfast we had the speeches with an excellent one coming from Chris’ Best Man, James.

Clare’s dress was designed by Suzanne Neville and came with a detachable under skirt netting thingy…

As night fell the Bride & Groom and their guests danced away to their live band ‘One Foot In The Groove’.

The couple are now off on honeymoon to Italy for two weeks… just as we get some nice weather here

On Friday I was at Ham Polo Club for the wedding of Lucy Moorby and Kim Gavin. The Polo Club is beside the River Thames between Richmond and Kingston and is quite a unique wedding venue.

Despite it’s peaceful setting it is a working polo club and whilst the ceremony and reception were taking place in the Club House the ponies were dashing past outside as they are exercised and trained.

Lucy and her Bridesmaids prepared for the wedding at nearby Warren House, a short drive across Richmond Park from the ceremony venue.

Not for the first time this year the flowers were from my friends at Euphoric whilst the bride’s dress was designed by Jenny Packham.

Kim is a choreographer and show producer and during the wedding ceremony there was plenty of music and singing. He has worked with many well known names and the guest list included members of Take That and, I was chuffed to realise, the legendary Kid Creole.

Not surprisingly, the bride and groom’s first dance was something special, although it has to be said that the dance floor was definitely the place to be all evening!
